Una Mirada Diferente («A Different Look»)

«Una Mirada Diferente» was born in 2021 to mark International Romani Day. On Calle Alcazabilla, at the foot of the Alcazaba fortress where Romani women were held during the Great Round-up of 1749, we displayed the stories of ten Romani women of different ages and occupations, with education as the common thread.

In 2022, together with Málaga City Council, the stories were shown on screens across the city. In 2023 the campaign became «10x10 Miradas»: ten women portrayed by ten female photographers. In 2024 an exhibition brought together the 27 role models from every edition, with a talk at the MUPAM museum and the reading of a manifesto.

In 2025, its fifth consecutive year, the campaign linked past and present under the motto «Achete (yesterday) – Achibe (today)» and travelled to Marbella as «Mujer gitana hoy» (Romani Woman Today).

• 2021: 10 women featured on Calle Alcazabilla, Málaga
